Hannah Hostutler, MA, LPC-R

Hi, I’m Hannah—I’m really glad you’re here.

I earned both my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my B.S. in Psychology from Liberty University. I am currently a Resident in Clinical Mental Health, working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia, and I’m supervised by Sarah Bishop (LPC, CSAC, MAC) (License # 0701004634).

Before becoming a counselor, I spent over 10 years working closely with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum as a behavior technician providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Through that work, I came to deeply understand that behavior is often a form of miscommunication. I also saw firsthand how emotional, environmental, and relational factors shape each person’s experiences and growth. In our work together, I focus on meeting you where you are—without judgment—and walking alongside you at a pace that feels comfortable. I value collaboration and believe that meaningful change happens when you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in the process.

My counseling approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which means we’ll look at how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. I’ll help you develop practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, and life’s challenges, while also building insight and confidence in yourself. I take a flexible, strengths-based approach, tailoring our work to fit your unique needs and goals. By combining my background in ABA with CBT, I bring both structure and compassion into the counseling space.

Outside of my work as a counselor, I enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs, being outside in nature, and getting creative through crafting. These are the things that help me stay grounded—and I believe finding what brings you peace and balance is an important part of the work we’ll do together.

If you’re considering counseling, I’d be honored to walk alongside you in that journey.
